When Peter Towers of the Quorn Royal British Legion had difficulty in finding a band for the Quorn Remembrance Parade in November 2001, he discussed this with Jim Rooney (our bass drummer) and became aware that there were actually many pipers and drummers living in the area not attached to any bands, mainly due to the demise of local pipe bands. Through his determination to establish a pipe band in the area, came the birth of the Quorn RBL pipe band in January 2002. After only forming weeks earlier, the band's first public engagement was at the Leicester Caledonian Society's 125th Anniversary Dinner Dance on 16.2.02.The band's last engagement was also at the Leicester Caledonian Society's Burns Night Dance on 19.2.05. prior to the name change to Leicestershire and Rutland County Royal British Legion Pipe Band on 21.2.05.
